The Ötztaler Cycle Marathon – A Legend on Two Wheels
A race that makes history – and sets hearts racing. Every August, Sölden transforms into the stage for the legendary Ötztaler Cycle Marathon – a major sporting event that draws thousands of cycling enthusiasts from around the world to the Ötztal Valley.
227 kilometers, 5,500 meters of elevation, 4 alpine passes – a race of superlatives.
Taking on the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon means not only participating in one of the toughest bike races in Europe but also living the dream of thousands of cycling enthusiasts. The start and finish are in Sölden – right on the doorstep of your A CASA accommodation.
Once a year, at the end of August at 31rst of August 2025, the Ötztal valley transforms into the epicenter of international cycling. Only 4,000 lucky riders receive one of the coveted start spots. What follows is an epic circuit over Kühtai, Brenner, Jaufen Pass, and Timmelsjoch – from Tyrol to South Tyrol and back again. A competition where determination and endurance decide between victory and giving up.
The 44th Ötztaler Cycle Marathon 2025 marks a new era: with the new main sponsor Specialized, one of the world’s leading bike manufacturers, top performance meets high-end technology. A strong signal for the future of this legendary event.
Around the race, visitors can enjoy a diverse supporting program – including the Bike Expo, live streams, the mountain sprint “Bike4Help Prolog,” and the grand award ceremony at the Freizeit Arena Sölden.

6:15 AM: Start of live broadcasts on the video walls in the finish area
6:30 AM: START of the 44th Ötztaler Cycle Marathon at the BP gas station with a cannon shot by the Sölden shooting company
1:30 PM: Winner expected at the finish line
2:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Finisher jersey distribution / chip return
2:30 PM: Female winner expected at the finish line
8:30 PM: Last participant expected at the finish line
8:35 PM: Official award ceremony in the sports hall
