Ötztaler Cycle Marathon - I have a dream
The Ötztal Cycle Marathon is the epitome of a dream, a true highlight for all cycling enthusiasts and is taking place for the 44th time this year.
Since its foundation in 1982, this marathon has developed into one of the most challenging and best-known events on the cycling scene.
‘Save the date’: On 01 September 2024, Sölden will once again be the venue where thousands of cyclists from all over the world want to make their dream come true.
The route of the Ötztal Cycle Marathon is as challenging as it is impressive and leads through the majestic landscape of the Tyrolean Alps.
Here are the key facts and figures:
Total distance: 227 kilometres
Total altitude difference: 5,500 metres
On this challenging route, 4 major Alpine passes are conquered:
Kühtai (2,020 m): the first pass lies ahead after just 25 kilometres, with a challenging climb and fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.Brenner (1,377 m): The second pass is a little more moderate, but offers an important recovery phase before the next challenges.
Jaufenpass (2,090 m): With its steep climbs, the Jaufenpass challenges riders once again and demands a high level of fitness and stamina.
Timmelsjoch (2,509 m): The crowning finale and also the highest point of the marathon. The last 30 kilometres are particularly tough, but the breathtaking view from the summit makes up for all the exertion.
