Alpine Eldorado for everyone on two wheels

Unrivalled experiences await you in the No. 1 bike destination in the Alps - and the ultimate experience & BIG BIKE FUN in the BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN.

A valley made for cycling amidst an imposing mountain backdrop

One should be careful with superlatives. But experience makes it clear: the best holiday choice for bike enthusiasts and cycling fans of all kinds is the Ötztal - with Sölden as the ultimate destination. As nature in Tyrol's longest side valley opens up fabulous opportunities, a true two-wheeler Eldorado has been created with exemplary infrastructure. Behind this is a pure passion for cycling, which has a home here.

The Ötztal Cycle Marathon - one of the most popular and at the same time most notorious cycle races in the world for everyone - is evidence of this. Despite the sporting challenge of 227 km and 5,500 metres of altitude over four Alpine passes, the starting places are highly coveted every year. The fact that the top German cycling team Bora - Hansgrohe regularly sets up its training camp in Ötztal also speaks for first-class conditions.

These two examples show that Ötztal is also the right place, indeed the ideal destination, for racing bikes. The same applies to almost all other types of freedom & enjoyment on two wheels: Whether for families, exploratory bike hikers and leisurely e-bikers, ambitious touring cyclists and, last but not least, the large community of freeriders, there is a great and varied cycling area for everyone.

Tip: You can take your bike on the valley-wide bus service free of charge at 15 stops. Transporting your bike up to the routes and trails on the mountain lifts is just as safe and convenient. With the Bike Republic upgrade of the Summer Card, transport is also free here.

Incredible variety of bike routes and bike tours

The numbers alone are impressive: 850 kilometres (and 35,000 metres in altitude) of bike and cycle tours leave nothing to be desired in terms of sporting activity, diverse nature experiences and unforgettable highlights. The routes and trails are as diverse and varied as the landscape in Ötztal. There are 63 kilometres of trails across five valley levels, from the mild climate at the entrance to the valley right up to the high Alpine regions. Cycling tours on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road to South Tyrol or the Glacier Road, for example, take you high up.

The whole variety of scenic attractions can be wonderfully explored on the Ötztal cycle path. Away from the main road, it meanders for over 50 kilometres from Haiming (at 670 m) up to Sölden (1,368 m) and is ideal for families as well as mountain bikers and e-bikers. There are numerous natural gems and other sights such as art and culture to discover along the route as well as on shorter bike excursions.

Tip: The online Ötztal Cycle Map in 3D provides a good overview and valuable orientation for the large selection of cycle paths and bike routes, trails and BIKE SPOTS.

Comprehensive and excellent cycling infrastructure

All cycle tours in Ötztal are signposted and the routes are well maintained. An infrastructure has been created throughout the valley that sets new standards in terms of comfort and variety. This applies to bike hire as well as bike service and also includes the high-quality range of bike guides and courses. This ranges from riding technique training for beginners or children - including kid camps - to individual private guiding for experts and pros - such as at the RIDE ON bike school in Sölden.

The BIKE SPOTS in Ötztal are also an outstanding offer, where you can get to grips with a wide variety of cycling sports or improve and train your own skills. The eBikepark Oetz, for example, is the first in Tyrol to offer the perfect training ground with routes of varying difficulty and an uphill flow. Cross-country and trail bikers are in good hands at the Ötztaler Höhe trail centre with three loops of varying degrees of difficulty. There are also 3 pump tracks for training, 2 of which are in Sölden.

Tip: The Ötztal also scores as a leader in cycling with Austria's first & only indoor bike park. The 3,700 square metre MTB hall at AREA 47 instantly brightens up the mood of bikers aged 6 and over, even in bad weather - as you can see here
