Winter Event Highlights 2023/2024

The Ski World Cup celebrates its premiere in Gurgl. "Hannibal" as a brilliant glacier spectacle and the hip Electric Mountain Festival ignite a firework of emotions at the finale.

Sölden stands for pure winter sports and great entertainment. As with its superlative ski area, it also makes a name for itself with outstanding events: Be it the annual Ski World Cup Opening on the Rettenbachferner, the spectacular glacier show "Hannibal" or the ingenious Electric Mountain Parties including the 5-day festival of the same name at the finale. There are also highlights elsewhere in the Ötztal, such as the premiere of the Ski World Cup slalom in neighbouring Gurgl. The following is an overview of the biggest highlights.      

30th Ski World Cup Opening in Sölden on 28 and 29 October - an incomparable skiing experience

This year, for the 30th time, the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Opening invites the world's elite in giant slalom and skiing enthusiasts from all over the world. The two competitions on the Rettenbach Glacier - with a start at 3,040 m and a legendary steep slope - are regarded as a highly demanding start to the new season for both the women's and men's skiers. The atmosphere during the entire World Cup weekend is as fabulously good as their skiing technique. Whether at the ski races, the parade of fan clubs or the glacier and World Cup parties: an incomparable atmosphere welcomes everyone and everyone should have experienced it. To the programme.

AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Gurgl from 16 to 19 November 2023 - anticipation for the premiere is rising

In Sölden's neighbouring village, the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Gurgl opens up another opportunity to see international skiing aces in action three weeks later. On 18.11.2023, Hochgurgl will celebrate its premiere as the venue for a World Cup men's slalom. The start will be on the Kirchenkar slope, the finish area is at the Top Mountain Crosspoint. An exclusive supporting programme will be offered on the World Cup weekend. In addition, the ski opening in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl and the Sölden winter ski area will take place on 16 November 2023.    

Electric Mountain Parties from 25 November 2023 to 29 March 2024  

A cool snow arena in the sunshine and lush beats are once again promised by the Sölden parties on the Giggijoch at over 2,300 m, where greats of electronic dance music guarantee the best atmosphere. See programme.

ELEMENTS BY NIGHT as well as SUMMIT DINNER - every Wednesday from 27.12.2023 to 20.03.2024

This winter, the cinematic installation 007 ELEMENTS opens its doors every Wednesday also in the evening. A great opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique James Bond experience in Sölden also at night. Directly adjacent at the summit of the Gaislachkogl at 3,048 m, the gourmet restaurant ice Q also invites you to the Summit Dinner every Wednesday and spoils you with luxurious moments as well as culinary summit experiences.    

Glacier spectacle "Hannibal" on 05.04.2024 - grandiose high alpine performance with wow effect!

As legendary as the crossing of the Alps with 60,000 men and 36 elephants by the commander from Carthage in 218 BC was, as breathtaking is the glacier play "Hannibal" based on this historical adventure. Every two years, the artists' network "Lawine Torrèn" stages what is currently possibly the biggest performance in the world at 3,000 m above sea level - with piste bullies, aeroplanes, helicopters, dancers and extreme athletes.

Electric Mountain Festival from 8 to 14 April 2024 - a firework of beats & sounds & emotions

Before the end of the ski season in Sölden (until 21.04.2024), the Electric Mountain Festival invites you to a furious finale for the 10th time this year. Over 5 days, international top DJs of electronic dance music ignite a firework of beats & sounds and emotions. At the ultimate remix of ski fun, dance music and top culinary delights, thousands of dance enthusiasts will party mightily amidst the impressive snow backdrop on the Giggijoch.
